Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Voir ("Voir", "we", "us") handles your information when you use the Voir speech-to-text keyboard app and its keyboard extension (together, the "App"). We built Voir to be private by design and to collect as little as possible.

1. How Voir is structured

Because of iOS security rules, a keyboard extension cannot freely access the microphone in the background. Voir is split into two parts:

• Main app — handles microphone recording, only while you are actively dictating and have enabled the microphone.
• Keyboard extension — receives the final transcribed text and inserts it where you are typing. It does not record audio.

The two parts communicate through a secure shared storage area on your device (an App Group) used solely to hand off the finished transcript.

2. Information we process

Voice input

When you dictate, your speech is captured by the main app and converted to text. Audio is processed only to produce a transcript and is not used for any other purpose. We do not use your voice recordings to build advertising profiles or sell them to third parties.

Transcripts

The text produced from your speech ("transcripts") may be stored locally on your device so you can review, copy, reuse, or delete them in the History screen. You can delete any transcript at any time.

Account and usage data

If the App offers an account or usage limits, we may process a limited identifier and basic usage counts (for example, how many dictations you have used) to operate features such as free-tier limits. We do not link this to your contacts or browsing activity.

What we do not collect

• We do not log the contents of fields you type into using the keyboard.
• We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
• The keyboard does not enable "Full Access" to read your keystrokes for any purpose other than inserting your dictated text.

3. Third-party services

To transcribe speech and provide app features, audio and/or text may be processed by trusted third-party service providers acting on our behalf (for example, a speech-recognition or text-processing provider, and our backend/authentication provider). These providers process data only to deliver the service and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections.

4. How we use information

• To convert your speech into text and insert it where you are typing.
• To show your recent transcripts and let you manage them.
• To operate features such as language selection, formatting, and usage limits.
• To diagnose problems, maintain security, and improve reliability.

5. Data retention

Transcripts stored on your device remain until you delete them or remove the App. Any data processed by service providers to perform transcription is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service and in line with their obligations.

6. Your choices

• Microphone: recording only occurs when you enable the microphone and actively dictate. You can disable it at any time.
• History: you can delete individual transcripts or clear your history.
• Keyboard access: you control whether the Voir keyboard is enabled in iOS Settings.
• Permissions: you can revoke microphone access in iOS Settings at any time.

7. Children's privacy

Voir is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transmission. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the App where appropriate.
